Numeral [Luxembourgish]

IPA: [ˈeːləf]
Etymology: From Middle High German ei(n)lef, from Old High German einlif, from Proto-Germanic *ainalif. Cognate with German and Dutch elf, English eleven. The unstressed [ə] would have developed in any case in Luxembourgish, but the development in zwielef (which see) shows that it was preserved from the Middle High German form.
